10 Easy Home Projects to Tackle While at Home

If we're going to be stuck at home, we better make the most of it! Let's take this unprecedented time to restyle our home. There are so many quick and easy updates that you can do, and all are going to be affordable!

Restyling Bookcases

You don't even need to go shopping for this one! Mike calls our home a museum because I'm always switching things around in our home. I don't necessarily buy new things, I just put them in different rooms and it gives it a fresh new look!

Painting

I think this is the most obvious one. But, think outside the box here! It doesn't have to be a wall, it could be a piece of furniture, maybe a new abstract artwork piece (let's just call it that), or maybe you're just giving your trim a fresh new look. Painting is one of the quickest and easiest ways to add value to your home.

Planting an Herb Garden

I have always said that I refuse to grow anything that I can't eat. If you've been following my stories, you would be seeing that I'm growing our veggies and herbs from seeds this year! It's been so cool and rewarding to watch our little plants grow. It's still a little too early for us to harvest them, but I'M SO EXCITED!

If you live in the city, you can still grow herbs! And if you're a beginner, there are some great easy herb garden sets like these!

Restore a Piece of Furniture

Maybe you have a vintage piece of furniture that you bought at the flea market last year. You had the best of intentions with refinishing it, but you never found the time. Well, here's your chance!

And maybe you just need to give a piece of furniture a new life. There are so many simple DIY Ikea hacks, or simple DIYs out there on Pinterest. I've saved some of my favorites on my Pinterest here!

Switch Out Light Fixtures

You will need to hop online for this, but you find some great ones at CB2, Lulu and Georgia and Burke Decor for an inexpensive price! I also love finding vintage ones on Etsy and Charish.

Check Our Favorites page for some inspo!

Install Wainscotting

This was a project that we did this last week! We have wainscotting in our powder room and it adds a lot of character to our 1870's home. I had this idea that I wanted to do it on our backsplash because we didn't actually have one. We went back and forth on black or white, but we ended up going with white, solely because we didn't want to get new switchplates!

Recolor Your Grout

Have some off-white grout that used to be white? Maybe white wasn't the best idea. What about going for some contrast with a darker color? There are some great grout paints out there that would spruce up your tile without having to retile it!

Spray Paint Old Metal Fixtures

This is such a quick and easy way to get an updated, upscale look without breaking the bank. Grab some brass spray paint and update your towel bars or cabinet knobs.

Switch Out Window Boxes

I did this the other day! Ours were falling apart. No like they actually fell apart when I went to pick it up haha We had these really old wooden ones that just looked terrible. So, I bought some new ones at Home Depot, and painted them Sherwin Williams Iron Ore. (The same color that I painted our dresser in our bedroom.)

Donate Your Clothes

I think every blog you read is going to tell you this. Andddd that's why I saved it for last. I mean, they are going to tell you to clean out your closet and create that capsule wardrobe that every Pinterest loving person is going to want. I sold a bunch of ours on Thread Up, and then donated the rest!

Let me know what ones you'll be trying out!
